Re: It's International Cat Day

@Sammycat1    Your Frankie is beautiful!  She reminds me of my Lily, a grey and white cat also.  I had Lily for 17 years.  Sending hugs to your sweet Frankie cat.

It's so good to hear from you!

I was crushed when Schmoo died -- he was my "spirit kitty." I'm writing a book about him.

But after a period of months without him and a home with no kitties, DH and I went to our local shelter to see about two girl cats who had been rescued from a hoarder's home that had 100 cats in it!

They are Fay Wray (tortie) and Miss Francesca (gray and white), a.k.a. Frankie. Their hoarder experience destroyed their immune systems and we lost Fay Wray in three years. But Frankie is still with us.

Here they are, waving to a most excellent pet parent. That would be you:

my mom loved her Russian Blue kitty. His name was Frosty. He was a retired show champion. I asked why he retired and mom said he didn't want to do it anymore. Haha. Actually it was when he bit a judge that retirement seemed to be on the horizon.

@1Professor,

Our cat used to love paper bags. I would save them for her to lie on, jump on, go into!

She was black with a white bib. My daughter's friend found her in an alley.

When she was 18 she finally turned into a very sweet and gentle loving girl. We all miss her.

Thank you to all for sharing your kitty stories!! Love them all. . . cats are very special creatures, nearly as special as those who love them.

Re: It's International Cat Day

I currently have no cats, but have had 5 or 6 over my lifetime.  All of them were specIal, but my most memorable ones were a blue point and a lilac point Siamese.  I don't read about many, if any, of you here having a Siamese.  I guess because many of you have gotten your cats as rescues or as strays, where you don't find many Siamese - maybe Siamese mixes.  My dad had a large Siamese mix that had the most beautiful large blue eyes.

We now have a 15 1/2 yr. dog, Molly, a terrier/chi mix that has a lot of health issues and probably won't be with us too much longer, although we have thought that for the last couple of years and she is still with us.
Love hearing about and seeing all your kitties.  Maybe someday I will have another one,

Re: It's International Cat Day

@Love orchids , I have a lynx point ,also called a tabby point siamese named Maisie. She is in no way built like a siamese, but more like a barrel, but has marking of siamese in a tabby looking way and the beautiful blue eyes. She also has the yowl of a siamese. I got her from a local rescue in NJ 10 years ago. She's  a real sweetie, but a bit shy, except with me.

@justsopeg  These are the "barn cats" that catch the mice, rats and snakes around the yard for DS and DIL and family. Solomon and Simeon. They are brothers and very sweet.
