Hope Bill is feeling better.  Humidifiers.  I have an ultrasonic one and i use distilled water, and i empty it and clean it with vinegar about every four days. No white dust at all with distilled water.  Now a whole house humidifier that is attached to your furnace is a whole different thing.  The amount of dust you will get depends on the hardness of your water.  I have one and disconnected it years ago because of the dust.
