Oh @wismiss I feel so badly for you. Just as many others here, I have been through this last year (with my little loved-so-much dog Gracie,15), and I can feel your pain in your post.

I wish I could comfort you by saying it gets better right away, but it seems that hearts have a mind of their own. I figure when we all can think of our Rainbow Bridge babies without crying we will be on the way to healing, at least a little. I'm not there yet, but have learned that you will find comfort in your wonderful memories of her until you can get there.

And when you watch the sad ASPCA commercials on TV showing dogs in terrible conditions tell yourself Katie never had to experience any trauma like that - she won the grand prize in life having you as an owner! So just remember that you gave Katie her very best life and she loved you very much for that.

I'm so sorry!  You gave Katie a good home and she knew she was loved. I had to put my 16 year old Jack Russell down several years ago. It's so hard! I miss him daily.
I have one left and am too old for another or another heartbreak.

I'm so SO sorry.  I'm sure she was everything to you.  I know mine are.  We've all been there and you made the ultimate sacrifice for her.  What a selfless act of compassion.

My beloved Katie, 14 1/2 years old, went to the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, June 3, at 9:15 a.m.  She had been having some problems and the vet diagnosed Cushings disease and an enlarged heart, both of which were very treatable.  However, when taking an x-ray, they noted a large tumor in her abdomen which was pushing up on her stomach and the stomach was pushing up on the lungs and the heart.   In addition, several small nodules were noted by her heart.  So, I had to make the decision to put her down.  My heart is broken.  She was such a sweetie and gave so much meaning to my life.  But, I knew she would not get better and only would suffer, so I had to say good-bye.  I'm 74 years old, so I won't be getting another pet.

SO sorry for your loss.  I'm still reeling from my Bogey passing two months ago.  It's a real emotional rollercoaster, that's for sure.

There are many inspirational things online regarding losing a beloved pet.

I also think the guilt can be overwhelming.  Putting them down when the time comes is the price we pay for many years of laughter and love. Heart

It's never easy to do this ... but it is truly the kindest act you can perform.

Hugs to you ...  Cat Sad
