I love my cat very much too.He is a stray that I met on my nightly walk.The weather was getting cold and the little guy was sitting in front of an abandoned building and called out to me.I knew that that little kitty needed food so for the past three years I have been by with dinner every night or arranged for someone else when I couldn't.I had not been able to get near the cat at all until recently.I can now pet and scratch him a little before dinner.He always meows to thank me for helping and we have come to the point where I think we have a mutual relationship.I can't pick him up to love but I can pet and scratch..still very skittish.I don't know how I came to love him as I am a dog person and never wanted to own a cat.

I have two cats, one is very small, doll eyes, white with long fur and kind of snooty.

The other is a great hulking Tortie.  I didn't know anything about Torties, I just loved all her colors, she has at least seven.  She is now twice as big as the other girl, she is a magnificent hulk but oh so gentle.  She jumps on top of the entertainment center, a no no, and is able to walk through the Christmas village without knocking anything over.  She's very funny, but unfortunately not a cuddler.

We all love our kitties  Cat LOL

I have a big rescue kitty named Sylvester, he thinks he's just a little kitten and wants to play and be loved.  He's not to bright either but I love him, my husband always teases me that there is just a little ball pinging around in Sylvester's head, but that's what makes him so loveable.  I jokingly hold him up by my face and ask my husband if Sylvester looks like me, his Mom !!!!!

You will be rewarded for helping this animal.  Is there anyway you can bring him home.  I used to feed an outdoor cat, he would come to my deck every morning and various times for dinner.  Then one day he was gone, I pray he was taken inside someones home and did not get injured.  I think of him often.

Hi @FuzzyFace, your story is ADORABLE!  I love cats.  We have an all black cat.  We call her yangya because she's so chatty and that's what it sounds like.  She says mama!  She's VERY demanding.  We love her so much too!  Cats are free spirits.  Anyway, yes, being over weight is not good for a cat.  Since your baby is up in age, I guess it's moot now.  I hope he lives a long, long time!  XXOO

Hi @Happiness Is Inside JOB!  It's funny you said that, that they stay with you when you're alone and it makes it seem like company.  Back in mid December, my husband had to be hospitalized for five days but during my birthday, honekka, but of course, I was afraid for him.  Our cat stayed by me until he came home.  She was a tremendous help.  I cried my head off.  Our town comes around in the fire truck all decked out with colored lights and they hand out candy canes, which I adore, but that night, I was alone, no one to rejoice with.  The snow was coming down and it was so quiet outside.  My heart felt as heavy as an anvil and I just was standing there with this dumb smile on my face trying to hide it as they handed me my candy canes.  I went back in the house, but there was our cat and when I got all in my jammies, she jumped in my lap and we watched TV together !!

@dex

Sometimes you're chosen by the kitty. Looks like this one chose you and there's not much you can do about it. Smiley Happy

Here is an idea....just leave a food trail so he follows you home.  When it gets really cold, he may come in.  We did that with ours.  She was very afraid and feral but now, she's the boss of the house!  She was crying up at our house and we began to feed her and the rest is history!  She's a spoiled brat but we love her!!!!  It happened because someone on another street was letting their cat breed all over the place and her mother had kittens in our back yard until someone alerted the authorities.  I mean, that's wrong to just let them breed unchecked.  It's not fair to the animals.  We have one of her daughters.  We were feeding her brother but he was very standoffish and his sister, (our cat) would not tolerate him.  He was not neutered and we have not seen him in a really long time.  At least we could save her.  It makes me so sad.  Ours is spayed so she can't breed.  Kittys are really great though!!!

What a lovely story.  I am also home a lot alone as hubby is on the night shift and and WOW what a difference a cat can make.  They can feel your love, and at times sadness and they show you their love the best way they can.  I am so thankful for my cat.  I'd get another one today but my cat is older now, and he is used to being the center of attention.  I don't think he would like it and I made that mistake a few  years back, getting a second cat "thinking" oh the first cat won't mind.

Well, CATS have feelings and personalities.  My older female cat got very depressed and stayed to herself.  When the new cat got lost outside one day, my original cat, was grinning ear to ear.  SHE WAS THRILLED, to have the house to herself.  TO be the center of attention.

So I learned my lesson.
