This is really a side trail and not a comment about homemade dog food but rather about raw dehydrated food. Recently I took my precious Maltese Meggie to a specialty vet where she was diagnosed with lung cancer and recently i had to put her down. While  at the vets she asked me about her food and iI told her that i had bought some VERY expensive raw dehydrated dog food. She said that i should never feed it to my dog and that I should not even touch it. The reason it that the dehydration does not kill the germs in the food. it made perfect sense to me because you hear of raw chicken having salmonella and we need to be careful of that . So just dehydrating it wont help with that. This is just a comment in the "for what it is worth" section! So into the trash my very expensive dog food went.
