If so, which ones do you like that work well? There are so many to choose from! I also want it to be washable. TIA!

I used them for my old dogs for years. I like the ones from PetsMart because they are lightweight for summer. You can put a sanitary pad in them so you don't have to wash so often. I made lots of them out of flannel and lined with quilt batting called warm and natural. You can buy them from people who make them. In fact, I was going to do it as a side business at one time. I still have yards of cute doggie material in my sewing room, but now I make baby blankets instead. Check out ebay or Etsy.

A friend of mine used them for her senior dog. She bought one and used it as a pattern to make more. She also used the pad/liner as an insert.

I wish I knew how to sew because I'd make my own. They seem so simple really, the concept anyway.

I think that Maltese Rescue has them for sale.
I used them on a male dog, also. I was warned, however, by a vet, that long term use can cause infections. So, use out of absolute necessity and cahange often. Use with care.

Yes, there is always a risk of UTIs and my boy is already prone to them so I know I have to be very careful. He will only wear it at night when he goes to bed and I will put a clean one on him every night. I don't really want to use one but I have no choice at this point.

I used a band for over a year on my Old English (115 pounds). I had a back band that hooked with velcro that I got from my chiropractor. I went back and bought several so that he could always have a fresh one while the others were in the wash. I bought adult incontinence pads in bulk (at quite a savings) from the assisted living home that my mom was staying at. I cut them to fit, put medicated powder on them, and had several ready to go by the door on a little stand.......oh the things we do for the loves of our life!!! My guy took a daily low dose antibiotic as a preventive for UTI. It worked for us and I would do it all over again for him. It has been close to five years since he has been gone and my heart aches for him still.
It does my heart good to read that others have done this also.

@tends2dogs your post literally made me cry. You were such a good mama to your boy. I know the heartache their passings cause. It has been 2 years since I lost one of my boys and 2005 since I lost my other (yes, ~10 years ago) and my heart still aches for both. I don't think that ever goes away completely- they take a piece of our heart when they leave us.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and giving me ideas and suggestions.

@HappyDaze You are very welcome. I hope you can come up with a system for your baby. Once you get one down, it just becomes part of your day.
A funny side story. We have another Old English that we also had when the other one was still with us. One time I said to him, do you want to wear this and held out the band. He came over to me and stood in front of me waiting for me to put it on him, so I thought, what the heck, let's see what he does. I put it on him and he just walked away. Of course, I didn't leave it on him, but DH and I got a good chuckle about it. Isn't it great how these precious animals are not self consience?? They just want to give love AND receive it.
All the best to you and your pet. Kudos for trying to find a solution. You will.

I've used Playa Pet. Worked ok, but I have never tried anything else so maybe there is something better.
