I would not mess with it and take him to the vet. How long has he been limping? he could have just pulled a muscle

Sorry about your baby, but it could be anything. She could have stepped on a rock or broken a bit of toe nail. Examine her pads if she'll let you. Make sure there are no cuts. Her nails should be trimmed because if they get too long, that can also cause a limp. If she's an athlete, it's possible she could have a more significan injury, but give her some rest and maybe a vet prescribed anti-inflammatory. Good luck. BTW, I've been through all the issues I listed above. Have had torn and even burned pads from the Texas heat. Also, we've let nails go too long. Take care.
