I brush Skye’s teeth several times / week but still she has a lot of visible tartar at the gum line. I had it done over 2 years ago.  Currently, her gums are generally pink and her breath is fine... Should I have it done soon?  It’s so expensive where I live... Probably $400 and some risk with an aesthetic -  Thanks for your thoughts!

@Skyegirl21  I leave it up to the Vet to recommend to me when to do it.  She doesn't recommend it unnecessarily.  Frankie is 7 years old and has never had hers cleaned.  When I had Cavalier King Charles Spaniels they had to have their teeth cleaned every year.  You can count on it being over $400, but it's so important for their heart health and health in general.  It's great that you clean her teeth regularly yourself.  The Vet can do so much better job near the gums when they're under anesthesia though.  

Don't let anyone talk you into having it done somewhere without anesthesia.  It isn't the same thing.

We have cats and this past July, Our 10 yr old had his teeth cleaned at a tune of $397.

Keep brrushing, concentrate on where the tooth and gum meet.White teeth are pretty but its' the Gum disease you're trying to prevent.  Pink gums good, RED inflammed gums and stinky breath Bad.  some Vets want to get that tarter out of there as it holds a lot of bacteria. You'll most likely need to do that dental Some day but talk with the vet as to what to look for and when.  Get labwork done before the anesthesis better safe than sorry.
