Two weeks ago I took my dear Gabi to the vet to have her put to sleep since she stopped eating.  I always thought that was a sign they were ready to leave me.  She has not been well  all of this year.  But I decided to change the appointment from euthanasia to evaluation.  Blood tests show anemia due probably from cancer.  They gave her fluids since she was dehydrated and she came home.  Eating was a problem for several more days and she is thin.  But this week her appetite is back and she is eating several small meals of home made chicken with veggie soup.  Mostly she sleeps but I am thankful for having the vet determine the problem and giving me many more days together.  She will lose the fight but for now doing ok.

So sorry that Gabi is terminally ill; yet so glad that you will both have this precious time together.

I remember when my precious Jade had metatastic bone cancer, acupuncture along with a combination of eastern-western medicine treatment.  So I will tell you what I remember:  cancer = hot so you treat it with cold.  Proteins and veggies are cold, carbs are hot.  So try to introduce foods that are cold to fight the cancer.  Also, tumuric, cumin and cinnamon were spices I incorporated in her food since they also help fight the cancer.

I don't remember everything so if this peaks your interest, you might research this online.  I can say that while she was going thru this, though difficult and heartbreaking, it brought us even closer together.  And, though on the other side she still watches over me as love never dies.

@Gabidog

Bless her heart (and yours).  I'm sorry.  As pet owners it's a sad fact of life that we must all experience at some point.  I'm keeping a close eye on my Dingo.  He is close to 14.  He's slowed way down but still has a good appetite and drinks plenty.  He's outside right now (he won't come in), barking at the cows across the street.  We give him a hip and joint supplement.

@Gabidog I'm so happy that you and Gabi will continue to share life's most precious gift: that of time.

I know you are tenderly taking care of her; may you both soak in the love and devotion you feel for each other until it is time to finally say goodbye.
