My two gals are deaf (15 yrs. old), but in their youth, they were terrified ... but the four days of loud booming fireworks this weekend here were distressing to all of my neighbors w/dogs (just like all of you have mentioned about your pets).   

 

I do not mind 2 hrs. on the 4th of July, but 4 days until the wee hours is unbearable.
