Does anyone else watch this series? I've been watching it for a while and while I enjoy it, I notice that lately they been doing a lot of euthanasia and I wish they shouldn't show that.
I think it's fine to show the truth about animals and the fact that they don't live forever, but these episodes leave me in tears--I feel so sorry for the animal (usually, it's a kindness to relieve the animal' suffering) and the animal's family is usually heartbroken.
I think he's close to 80--he's been doing this for a long time. I wonder if he'll ever retire or work till he drops dead?

I love Dr Pol. He sometimes seems a little rough, but he is good at diagnosing and fixing the problems. For an older man, he sure seems to be energetic! It is sad to see an animal put down, but I don't like for them to suffer, either. I also like the vet married couple on Heartland Docs, too. They really show love for all animals and are very gentle and so good at what they do! I love how they enter act with each other and their two sons.

I've watched this show since its inception. I especially enjoy the segments about cows and horses. I sometimes question his sanitation standards, such as they are. He has been censured numerous times by the state board in Michigan

I love Dr. Pol. Sometimes on grey and rainy days I will stumble upon a marathon on NatGeoWild and hunker down for the afternoon! I love Brenda too!

I watch when I remember. I get that channel now that I no longer have cable, but use a fire stick. I think my favorite, though, is Dr Jeff on Animal Planet.

Dr. Brenda is a gem--and she knows when to keep trying, and when it's time to say goodbye.. And though she comes across as a little gruff, I've also seen her shed tears when she has to notify the familly and/or do the deed herself.
I don't know anything about her personal life except for one time I think I heard her say something about her children. I wonder if she'll take over when Dr.Pol retires/dies. My impression is that she'd rather work with animals than having to process mountains of paperwork.

@catter70 OMG ... LOVE DR. JEFF. We regularly donate to his charity because he is so kind and giving of his time, etc. I also like Dr. Poll, The Critter Fixers, Dr. Oakley, and Dr. K. The Vet Life was good too. Heartland Docs is okay.

I feel Dr Pol will continue working until he just can't do it anymore. He may eventually limit his work to being a second pair of hands in surgery, or just handling clinic visits - no farm calls. This is what I've seen with our local vets once they reach their 80's.
It is my understanding Dr Brenda has never married and has no human children. I have heard her refer to her farm animals as her children.
As a farm girl, I appreciate the way they handle death. We did not attach ourselves to farm animals, but losing one meant we lost a food source, or took a hit financially, and that hurt.

He's been "vetting" for something like 30 years or so, and, yes, he might make a mistake once in a while. I don't know if it's been "numerous times" but at close to 80 years old he's still in there, pulling calves out of cows and so on, so I don't think I'd be very doubtful about his standards.
