Re: Dog eating snow

[ Edited ]

No harm if dogs are eating snow in small amounts. In fact some dogs will burrow through snow to eat rabbit pellets.  This perfectly normal because rabbit pellets are full of nutrients due to a vegetarian diet and your dog is hard- wired to search for them. Mother Nature does a good job taking care of her own. When it comes to what dogs can eat safely other than dog food, small servings are the safest way to go.

Well, there is no chance of the dog finding rabbit pellets anymore. A newly arrived fox took care of the rabbit that used to live in our backyard. Yes, our dog is a collie - long nose - so he likes to smell everything. He tries to check out who and what has been passing through in a 1/2 mile radius of the house. My husband takes him to the park everyday for a 3-4 mile walk and then they also walk 4-5 miles in our neighborhood everyday. He is one nosy dog. Just one with a sensitive stomach.
