Could you recommend a good dog shampoo that is fragrance free?  TIA.

Re: Dog Shampoo Recommendations

@DottieBlue  I use Burt's Bees dog shampoo and have had good luck.

I used to send my dogs to the groomers, but my lab came back itching (she has bad allergies) so I just wash them myself now and always use Burts's Bees dog shampoo and have had zero issues.

@DottieBlue

earthcare natural pet care oatmeal and aloe. It is excellent for dogs with sensitive skin, there is little to no scent and we've been bathing Pup Pup with this for 7 years. highly recommend!

@DottieBlue I use an oatmeal shampoo from Foster and Smith on my west highland because he has allergy and skin issues.

Re: Human Shampoo Is Not Good For Dogs

[ Edited ]

You feed your pet nutritious food and make sure he gets exercise, right? You give him lots of love and attention.

But you could still be making a serious dog grooming mistake — using human shampoo on a dog. It’s tempting to lather your pup with your shampoo, but it’s dangerous to your dog’s health.

We put together this list of 5 reasons you should always use dog shampoo. Keep reading to learn why it’s important to use dog-specific products.

  1. Human Shampoo is Not for Dogs

Dogs and people have very different skin and hair.

Human shampoo often contains harsh detergents that damage a dog’s coat and irritate his skin. The detergents wash away natural protectants, making your dog vulnerable to infections.

Dog shampoo is gentle so natural oils aren’t stripped away. It protects his skin and coat but still gets the dirt out.

You may have heard it’s okay to use baby shampoo on your puppy, it couldn’t be more wrong. It will dry out his coat, and doesn’t provide proper Ph balance and protection.

Thanks to all for your replies.

Yes, @NickNack , that is why I asked for recommendations for a GOOD shampoo to use on our dogs and I need it to be fragrance free.  Do you have specific recommendations?

@DottieBlue   My reply wasn't directed at you.  It was because you had gotten several recommendations for human shampoos.  I use Virbac Allergroom for normal to dry skin.  My Vet recommended it a long time ago.  I like it.  You can order it from Amazon if interested.
