My sons little yorkie is doing the same thing.

He took her to the vet and the vet found nothing wrong. ($800)

She is still holding up the paw and not walking around much.

We can rub it, manulipulate it,everything..

We are thinking she likes the attention........lol

It could be a soft tissue injury which wouldn't necessarily show up on an x-ray.

I once had a cat that loved to jump down to the ground from the roof of where I use to live.

One time he landed wrong, and had a soft tissue injury.

He hid under my bed for the rest of the day, and did not want to be bothered.

The next day he was right as rain, but he never again jumped off the roof.

He found another way to get down.

The Sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.
