I remember having the dental problem with my previous German Shepherd. I found some drops that I could put in her water. They also have flakes or drops to put on the food. I also fround the brand "Tropic Clean" ( it's in a green lettered celophane bag) and they really helped. She loved them. They were small size bone shaped treats but on the softer side. I believe they sell a vareity of sizes and chew. These worked for us. Hope it helps your dog just as well.

@drizzellla

I also see dried salmon, chicken strips, so maybe add those in for variety if he likes them!

Maybe donate your opened treats to friends who have dogs!

I don't know why the mods won't let me state the name of the yogurt but it begins with an f and has a g in it - sure you'll find it in the store.

My vet recommeded a good chew, OraVet.   They come in different sizes depending upon the dogs weight.   They are completly digestible.  I usually buy them directly from my vet, but I noticed that Chewy has started carrying them.   I have three dogs and they love them.

Here's a link with recommendations for tartar removal products that don't require brushing, with reviews.

They include water additives, sprays and gels, maybe it'll be helpful!

@KingstonsMom, just add an a and you've got itWoman LOL!  Can't understand why they block it!

Anyways, it's a delicious yogurt, if you haven't tried it, kinda a cross between yogurt and sour cream taste.

I will have to give him a fruit smoothee. He likes cottage cheese so maybe I will give the fruit a whirl in cottage cheese. I will get the yogurt when I go to the store - starting a list now. And yes he likes chunks of cheddar cheese too.

It is funny you mentioned hand feeding him. Throughout much of the summer, I had to hand feed him. He would not eat, unless I hand fed him. Then in the middle of November we went on vacation and boarded him near our resort. We took him out everyday and tried to feed him while he was with us. Only ate once with us. The kennel said he was eating just fine. WELL, ever since we have been home, I no longer hand feed him. He will eat EVERYTHING in his bowl AND as soon as we put the bowl down.

We are kidding that we got the wrong dog. We even gave the kennel HIS food. And when we picked him up not much of the food was gone. So we figured they gave him their food.

Thanks for all the great food tips.

We bought Nylabone Liquid Tartar Remover. Will have to start giving it to him again.

And I will look for the Tropic Clean. Sounds like just his speed. Thanks

If his teeth are in bad shape you really need to have them looked at.  There may be broken or cracked teeth that can be causing pain and become infected.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.
