Do You Tip At PetSmart for a $10 Nail Clip?

I went to PetSmart this morning and had my little dog's nails clipped.  It probably took less than 5 minutes.  I was given a bill by the girl that trimmed the nails and she told me to take the bill up front to the register to pay.

When I was driving home, it came to me......should I have tipped her??

Do you tip at PetSmart for the $10 nail clip?  If so, how much do you give?

Only if they used pink nail polish.

I always tip - $2 would have been right for a nail clip.

I don't care if it took 5 minutes of 35 minutes...it's something that I can't and won't do...the tech makes it a pleasant experience for my dog!

Re: Do You Tip At PetSmart for a $10 Nail Clip?

I probably would have left a small tip but I wouldn't be concerned if I didn't. I used to pay $7 to my dog's groomer and left a $1 tip but, after a while, I started thinking I could easliy do it myself.

I mentioned it to the groomer who told me to buy the clippers and she would show me how. Nice lady!

Now I do it myself, have some extra cuddle time with my dog, and save money, gas, and time. Also, the more I walk my dog the less often I need to trim her nails. It's a win-win!

I think $10 is a lot to pay for a nail trim.  I'm not sure I would have tipped either.  I'm very lucky that my groomer will do free nail trims if you are a regular client.

Re: Do You Tip At PetSmart for a $10 Nail Clip?

I take my kitty in every month for his "mani-pedi" and they charge $10, which is reasonable compared to other locations.   My Bogey doesn't get baths there ... just nails clipped.   Sometimes one person has to hold him while another does the clipping ... he can get very wiggly for one person.

The very first time I got his nails clipped, I took him to a local vet and they charged me $22!!  yikes!   So now I happily pay $10 for someone else to be the bad guy.   It's money well spent.

@NickNack   A nail clip should be part of every grooming session and shouldn't cost extra.   I had a dog that I unfortunately had to take to a speciality vet clinic.   Whenever she spent the night,  she always came home with a fresh pedicure.

@Kachina624  Yes, a nail trim is part of the grooming session.  I take my dog in for nail trims between grooming sessions though, and my groomer doesn't charge me or anyone else who is a regular client.  I really appreciate that.

I often get a free nail trim for my pup because he goes to doggy daycare regularly. When they charge, it is $10, and I tip $2 or $3 depending on who trims his nails. I have tried to do it, but it makes me nauseous (never had kids).

@Tinkrbl44 $22? Yikes is right!

We used to take one of our (now departed) cats to the vet for nail clippings. We tried to clip his nails but he was just too obstenate for us. Of course he was a angel to the tech.

I don't recall how much is was but it was NOT $22. Plus, they gave us a punch card - 5 nail clippings and the next one was free.
