All depends on the law where you live, but since this involves bites to a human it could be the law will remove and euthanize her pet, with no exceptions for 1st biting offense.
Do you want it to go that far?
I'd think the owner would be happy to make timely payments.
Hope your daughter is ok, IG.
No way DD would want that to happen, she's too big of an animal advocate!
When the police officer escorted her to the vet's office, the owner showed up with her dog's shot records and DD declined to press charges when the officer asked.
She does have a police report in case it's needed in the future and police did cite the Lab's owner for dog at large.
Anyone with animals knows that they can be unpredictable at times, although the dog should not have been in the unfenced front yard, unattended.
DD did take today off of work as her hands and knees are pretty sore!
Thanks to everyone for the concern and well wishes!
sorry.... no pet should be biting people... that is not being unpredictable... it is being vicious... the next victim will be a child... that dog should be put down.

Sorry but you are incorrect. This is why you are told not to try and break-up a dog fight---you will get bit. It has nothing to do with biting a person, dogs during a fight will snap in the air. If you get in the way you may get bit. Which is not to say you should not protect your dog, but it also does not mean the dog was trying to bite you.

Exactly, DD was trying to break the grip of the lab on her dog, when she got bit in the process.
In no way was the Lab trying to attack or being aggressive toward my daughter, her hands just got in the way while trying to protect Charlie.

When things like this happen.I always think the humans should be in trouble ,not the dog!!!
Dogs bite and protect,it's their nature ,but humans should be ,"In control" of their dog at all times. A dog should NEVER be left alone ,free outside without human supervision!
Dog protect their enviorment,it's in their nature to do that! If you own a dog,you must have it under controll at ALL times! It is your responsibility!!
People should go to jail not the dog!!! He is only doing his job! jmo
I hope everyone involved is ok.................

The dogs owner made a mistake. The dogs owner took responsibility and made restitution immediately. I find that commendable and wish more did the same.

So a dog owner is walking their dog down the street. An unrestrained dog charges and attacks the leashed dog for no reason. And this dog is not considered vicious? What happens when the attacking dog goes after a child or an elderly person who is just walking down the street? Yes the owner was at fault but the attacking dog is dangerous. I can't understand why people want to have unpredictable dogs who are prone to attack and bite other animals and people.

No dog is 100% predictable. Anyone who understands dog behavior will know that this one incident is not an indication that this is a dangerous dog or prone to attack again.

Lawyers want big money. I couldn't imagine one taking this case.

I am glad your DD and dog are ok. We just never know the nature of an animal. Who would have thought a lab could be so aggressive. They are usually very sweet and gentle. Pit bulls get a bad rap but other dogs are not considered aggressive.
I always watch Pit bulls and Parolees. It is very interesting to see how loving and caring these dogs can be. Some of the way these dogs have been treated and left to die, you would think they would be mean. They picked up one dog that someone had cut his ears off with a scissors. The dog was very kind. He was used for dog fighting. People are just sick and cruel.
