[ Edited ]

@KingstonsMom   I'm so glad your daughter and Charlie are okay now!  So glad they got a police escort to the Vet.  I hope they won't have to worry about the other dog being out in his yard unrestrained in the future.  Did your daughter need stitches or get a tetanus shot or anything?

Re: DD and Her Pitbull Rescue Attacked by a Lab

A good friend has a beautiful collie (I posted a pic of him here as a pup).  Friend is very disabled, about 80 years old and was walking her dog using her mobility scooter on our quiet neighborhood syreets.  They passed close to a parked car, from which came an English bulldog that had been lying underneath.  Her dog bolted, overturning the scooter.  She lay on the ground while two cars passed with nobody stopping to help.  Finally a woman stopped and helped her up.  She was pretty bruised but nobody was bitten.  Loose dogs are a threat even if they don't bite.

@Kachina624   That must have been very scary for your friend.  I can't believe that two cars passed without stopping to help her.  That's awful.

Re: DD and Her Pitbull Rescue Attacked by a Lab

The lab bit her several times? I  hope she went to the emergency room and received proper care.  I have always had a fear of dogs. While walking in my former neighborhood minding my own business  a couple of times I had dogs charge me. Thankfully the owners were outside and called them off but it was scary.

@KingstonsMom.  For once I'm glad dd was stopped by cops.  I'm glad they were astute enough to realize she needed help.  I hope she got some medical attention.  She and her doggie had quite an afternoon but hope everyone is on the mend.

Re: DD and Her Pitbull Rescue Attacked by a Lab

I'm glad your daughter and her dog are OK, but so sorry they both had to go through such an awful experience.

I dearly love dogs, but would never leave my well-behaved, gentle dog outside in an unfenced yard.  You never know what might attract them and possibly cause even a nice dog to do something not so nice.

Glad at least the neighbor will cover dr. bills.

IG,

Things could have been a lot worse!  I'm glad your DD and her puppy will be fine.  How frightening and totally unnecessary way to spend her afternoon.  I'm glad the police officer escorted her.

Kachina,

I'm so sorry for your friend.  What a horrible experience.  I hope your friend will be okay.

I'm not convinced the lab's owner will cover the doctor bills. DD might want to seek legal advice. I wish a speedy recovery to her and Charlie.

Re: DD and Her Pitbull Rescue Attacked by a Lab

This is traumatic and very scary.  I would have nightmares.

I would call our attorney if I were her.  People are quick so SAY they will cover the expense UNTIL they see the $$$ then there is a problem.    People have no idea how expensive these 'little accidents' cost and when the bills are in the thousands the trouble starts.

Get the ducks in a row now, it will save time and money in the long run.  Especially if the homeowner has not produced their homeowner's insurance info yet.

@KingstonsMom  Tell your daughter to really watch those bites, both on  her dog and herself for infection. They can really be bad!
