DD recently adopted a pit bull approx. 1-2 years old, and after work a few minutes ago, she took him for a neighborhood walk on leash and they passed a home where a black Lab was was laying in his front yard unattended and unrestrained.
The Lab attacked them, ripping her pit bull's ear and when DD intervened, he bit her several times on her arm, as she tried to protect herself and her dog.
The owner came out, looked to be in shock, but said nothing and DD scooped up her dog and ran back home.
She called me as she's flying to her vet's office and I told her to call the police to report the attack, so they can verify that the Lab has had his rabies shot.
We were disconnected when the police pulled her over on the way to the vet's office.....
I'm on pins and needles!

@KingstonsMom Oh how awful! I hope her being stopped by the police didn't delay her too much in getting to the Vet's office. I think I read on the forums a week or two ago about another dog being attacked by a lab, maybe at a dog park. That's so awful. I'm so sorry for your daughter and her dog. I hope she gets her arm looked at today, too. That was good advice telling her to report it to the police. They will need the information about the rabies shots.

No dog should be able to get out of their yard, some kind of fence is needed.Hope your daughter, and dog is okay.

I am so sorry to hear about this awful event. I sincerely hope your dear daughter and her sweet dog are ok. I would also hope that any medical attention for your daughter and pup be given immediately. How sad that irresponsible pet owners cause so much harm.

I take it the front yard was not fenced in. Yes, she should call the police to report the attack. The dog should have been restrained or the yard should have been fenced to keep the dog in and other dogs out. Your daughter can sue them for the vet bills since this was obviously their dog's fault.

The police escorted DD the rest of the way to the vet and Charlie received a few stitches, but he's good now.
When DD was trying to stop the attack, she just threw her body over Charlie's to protect him and tore her knees up in the process, on the asphalt.
End result, the Lab did have current vaccines, the owner was cited for 'dog at large' and agreed to pay for for DD's medical costs at urgent care and Charlie's vet costs.
So appreciative that they're both okay, but they're sore!
That was scary!
