They are common now in many neighborhoods, both urban and suburban. We see them often in California. Authorities will not remove them because more just move in to whatever area has become available. They prey on small pets, rodents, fallen fruit, garbage, pet food left out, almost anything.
Keep an eye out for them when walking your dog or young children. We attached extra wire fencing to the top of our walls and gate so they cannot come over. They can jump very high, climbing walls and fences easily. Poor things. They belong in wild areas.
