When Clancy's ready, he will bark!  Don't worry.

When I first got Jade from a rescue, she quietly took everything in - even chased a squirrel - no barking.  Then one day, she noticed something unusual in the neighborhood - a handyman over a neighbor's house (two houses away!) while they were in FL - she barked. She was a fantastic protector of the entire neighborhood - the neighbors even learned her various barks:  the hello bark, the I'm gonna get the animal bark, and the someone unusual in the neighborhood bark.

Eddy barked sooner, but less often.  He now not only barks are various outside issues, but sometimes we have barking conversationsWoman Happy!

We have had many dogs and different breeds.  All of them have different personalities.  And its so much fun watching and learning from them.   Too bad you didn't post a picture!

I love puppies!  I am sure he is perfect.

We had a mixed breed who did not bark unto he was several months or close to a year old. He made up for it later with added bonus barking!

Be glad for the peace and quiet.  Once he starts, he may never stop!

Two of my male collies never barked.  If you'd ask them to speak, they would reluctantly bark for you, but neither of them liked it.  It was a pleasure to have such quiet dogs.

My female collies were barkers and the male I have now barks at anything and everything.  Just part of their personality I guess.

@goldensrbest     He still may need time to " find his bark" so to speak. I have a rescue shepard mix from mexico who NEVER barks... she whines and wimpers instead.   When she is dreaming at night in her bed, she will have little bark fests in her dreams... that is the only thing close to a bark... but never in awake state yet, and she has been with me for a year and a month to this day..

I looked up information on dogs that do not bark on google and it said some dogs just do not like the sound of barking so they choose not to bark. I have never had a dog who does not bark before this rescue dog. All of my past dogs includng my golden Lola were big time barkers.

I would not worry about it.. he may still find his bark... but if he does not, that is just fine.

Not barking?  Your neighbors must be thanking their lucky stars.

@goldensrbest Enjoy the tranquil moments while they last.  We have a west highland terrier that barks at the tv, radio, birds, neighbors, and anything!!!  Buddy even barks at the vet's office, the drive-thru bank, wherever.  I would relish some quiet as he is 6 months and VERY VOCAL.
