Re: Cat hissing at her sister cat after returning from the vet

My friend just texted me and her exact words were "Your exactly right".

So, there you have it from someone who has (at her house) has 8 cats and 4 dogs!  Plus she's been the Vet's nurse for many, many years!

Yep, mine react the same. I get so sad for the one who went to the vet and who can't understand why his/her friend suddenly has become nasty and unfriendly.

Rub a piece of your clothing all over the kitty who was at the vet.....perhaps your smell that her sister is used to smelling, will cover up the "strange" odor she apparently does not like!  It is at least worth a try!

@petepetey

One of my 2 girls use to always pick hissing fights w/ her sister.  Never knew why as I have them both since kittens.  I always had to break it up.

I looked online & decided to use a recommendation called "scruffing."  Grab the fur on the back of the neck of the hissing cat & hold it's face down to the floor & "hiss" loudly at it.  Since I've done that several times, the fighting occurs rarely now.

.... might also be due to their older age also 17 1/2 yrs.

Hope you find something that works for you.

I've had that happen.  It goes away after a couple days.  Cats don't like vet smell.

My Sugarbear kitties did the same thing. It would last just a few days, and would suddenly stop.

When I had them spayed, they both hissed at each other. Cat LOL

@petepetey

Wet a washcloth or microfiber cloth.

Wipe down the "vet" cat.

Take that same damp cloth and then wipe down Ms. Hissy.

They will smell "the same" and she should get over it.

That is what I have done when I had sisters, when one was left behind while the other went to the vet.

In total agreement with @lolakimono's recommendation.  Have used this solution many times over the past 30+ years.  Make sure the cloth is just slightly damp and you should be able to "pet" each kitty's head and back.  Best of luck.
