I have two male cats, each with an abundance of personality.
One of them is an avid TV watcher. I discovered just how intently around 7 years ago when I fell asleep on my bed with the TV remote in my hand. At some point during the night I went right through the channels and ended up on a special about snakes in the southeast.
I was fast asleep, had no idea...and woke up to my large orange tabby attacking my brand new bedroom TV. On the screen was a zoomed in shot of a striking snake. The TV took a tumble, but thankfully he didn't break it.
This morning we discovered "CATS 101" on Discovery's Family Channel. My cat was enchanted lol. (the other cat could care less....he only reacts to the sound of the dinosaurs on the Jurassic Park movies)
Anyway, wanted to share about the show as it was full of interesting cat facts. They also highlight different breeds, and explain characteristics and potential health issues. It was pretty interesting, and something new for "us" to watch

@SunSprite Funny! To wake up from a sound sleep and see your cat attacking the TV must have been a little shocking. 😂
I have a picture of our cat (she passed away 10 yrs ago, yesterday) sitting on a small ottoman I placed in front of the TV for her to watch 'Animal Planet'. She would sit there, eyes glued to the TV, intensely interested in what the animals were doing. She definitely had other human qualities, as well, and such personality! 😄 We still talk about her, and miss her terribly.
Thanks for the heads-up about the program.

@candys mine Ha ha ha......it took me a good solid two minutes to fully wake up, realize what had happened, and make sure everyone (including the TV) were ok. I remember screaming a not nice word in the process lol.
What really got me was he had to make quite a leap from my bed to the perch the TV was on and I'm sure the force of his weight (at the time, 20+ lbs) rocked the TV. He looked so wild, every hair standing up (and he's long haired), tail five sizes enlarged. It was quite the sight. He was a good protector though
@Mimi 1883 That is such a sweet image, curled up on their ottoman watching the shows. I know it's been a while, but I'm sorry for your loss. When they are a part of your family you never truly forget that loss. I just appreciate the time I do have

This is not the best picture, but most of my pictures say they are too big to download here. This was taken right after his grooming appointment (he's super long hair, gets his lion trim once a year due to undercoat matting). You'd certainly never know he came from the mean streets of the city lol--he adapted quite well to being an inside prince ......

@SunSprite You have a little lion. What a cutie! Good to know he will protect you if he needs to. I had a rescue part Main Coon. We had to take him in once a year to have the lion shave also because of the matting of his fur. Everytime we did this and brought him home from the vet. my other cat didn't recognize him and took several days to warm up to him.
I now have a tuxedo and a solid balck cat. I have a picture of them lying side be side watching a Yankees game. I think the non cat people have no idea how much fun cats can be at the same time maintaining their independent nature.

@50Mickey Lol I know exactly what you mean! We rescued our second cat about a year ago, and when my "lion" came home from grooming his partner in crime did not recognize or like him one bit. It really surprised me, as they had become close buddies. It took the second cat quite a few days to act like normal around him.
Here's a before the groomer's pic. I had some furniture I was discarding all pushed together in a corner and they still somehow managed to find the mirror

Beautiful kitties and the lion knows it as he gazes into the mirror.

Beautiful cats. A male cat I had some years back (now at Rainbow Bridge) liked to watch the Westminster Dog Show. He wasn't interested in other shows, but when Westminster came on, he was glued to the TV watching all the dogs around the ring.

@SunSprite Thank you. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her, beautiful black and white tuxedo; she was my shadow. We have a large bathroom vanity where I would sit each morning to put on my makeup, and she would lay there and touch the items, then intently watch me get ready. Every day. So cute. She would sit on that ottoman and watch TV, it was comical. 😄 Yes, our pets are Definitely 'family'! 👍
