Betty White Memorial Birthday Challenge

@threecees started a thread about this a while ago in another forum. I thought I would post it here, as DH and other veterinarians are getting a lot of information about the support coming in.

This time of the year is so important to help animals stay warm and fed.

If you can be part of this challenge please donate to the no-kill shelter near you. Wonderful volunteers are always trying to get animals out of shelters that are not "no kill." Let's hope all homeless animals can end up at shelters where they will be loved and cared for and where their lives are safe.

If someone wants to help but can't financially, shelters are happy to accept old towels, sheets, and blankets.

Betty did so much for her beloved animals. Try to make a difference and help with this challenge by her 100th birthday on January 17.  Smiley Happy

[ Edited ]

@beach-mom My family members and I donate on a regular basis to area shelters.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm a bit tired of being brow beaten to donate because of one celebrity. I don't do that. I donate when and where I want and not to honor a TV personality. But that's just me.

Re: Betty White Memorial Birthday Challenge

While I think it's a grand idea to donate to shelters and rescues, and have donated to my favorite group for years, I'm getting a little tired of hearing about the Betty White Challenge.  What happens after January 17th?

Re: Betty White Memorial Birthday Challenge

@beach-mom Thank you for posting it here where it belongs for pet people.

I think this is a wonderful idea. This challenge is to honor Betty and her love

for animals and I am sure she would be so thrilled that people were doing

this for her. It is after a big birthday, her 100th!

What happens after her birthday is that people who donate regularly will

continue to do so. You don't have to give just cash, you can donate anything

that your animal rescue needs, such as old towels, sheets, newspapers,

pet beds, etc.or help out in so many different ways. When my kids were

younger we often walked dogs on the weekend.

I will always remember how much Betty loved animals and what a special

kind-hearted woman she wasHeart

Re: Betty White Memorial Birthday Challenge

@Kachina624 and @Love my grandkids- A lot of us support shelters whenever we can. I think they're spotlighting this to make more people aware of shelters and what they do.

I see it as any other time people help out on one day or for a specific period of time, like Red Nose Day, to help children in need. It doesn't mean we stop helping throughout the year. But this is one day focused on that particular need. Smiley Happy
