@Lori Kaye lol yeah they are funny like that! When I brought home my 6 month old dog, my 4 year old was not having any of it, lol. He would silent snarl at the puppy when I wasn't looking and then he'd stalk the puppy but when the puppy would try to chase him or play with him, he acted bored and walked away. It was super funny to watch the interaction as you KNOW he was curious about the puppy but still not sure he wanted anything to do with him, lol. Eventually, they became the best of friends. And I really mean that. They wouldn't go anywhere without each other and when the puppy grew up and was bigger than my older boy, my older boy would even lay on the "puppy" when he slept. My younger dog only allowed him to lay on him, no other pet. When my older boy was old and sick, his best friend was forever by his side, always protecting him. When I'd bring him outside to lay in the sun, his best friend would stand guard next to him. It was such a wonderful sight to see how much they cared about each other. Warms my heart just thinking about it.

After being dogless for 2 years, went to Animal Control last June, saw a black lab/pit bull mix, 3 years old, full of energy, have had Labs before & know they stay puppy a long time, well took her home & she is a delight, fit right in, loves "her" yard, etc
She is playful but gentle, love her, love her!

Here's my story.........In November of 2014, I lost my collie to cancer. It was sudden and swift and he was only 7. We found out he had cancer on a Thursday and four days later he collapsed and died. Prior to that, he appeared perfectly healthy. It was a complete shock and mystery. Adding insult to injury, 6 days before his death we had put down our 15 1/2 year old lab/boxer mix. My DH and I were devastated. Still are.
For the next 9 months we were petless. Prior to that, in our 32 years of marriage, we had only been without a dog for 3 weeks. Of course our home felt empty during that time, but I just couldn't bring myself to look at or think about getting another dog.
Fast forward to August 2015 and a new collie puppy (4 months old) comes into our lives. I finally felt ready to move on and open up my heart again. We were so excited and anxious to bring him home.
Well, he turned out to be such a handful! He's feisty and energetic and curious and loud and clumsy and rough and into everything and stubborn and thick headed! hahaha And, yes, I know he's a puppy but sheesh I keep waiting for him to realize he's a collie! (He's our fourth so I am very familiar with the breed).
Anyway, I'm finally getting to the happy part...........it took a while, but we have completely bonded. I love him as I've loved all my past dogs. He's intelligent and alert and happy beyond belief with a personality that's both sweet and delightful. He's the most affectionate dog we've ever owned -- something I really love about him -- and he is bringing a great deal of happiness back into my life.
