And, you ARE being rude.  Nothing like poking a gal in eyes when she's down.  For G*d's sake, my dog just died.  Regardless of what you "really" think, can't you at least have the decency to show some empathy.  You're being abusive.  I'm going to have to put you on ignore.

Good nite.

Rina, just because you don't like another person's opinion or agree with them, doesn't make them rude.  Perhaps the wound from losing you dog is still too fresh.  Take some time for it to heal, then start your search for the perfect companion.

We don't have to agree. This is not about an "opinion", it's about manners.  If I perceive someone to be rude to me, then that is MY perception.  And, when someone starts out saying "Not to be rude" or "I don't mean to be rude", then, they already KNOW that what they are about to say will be perceived as offensive.  And it was.
I did not ask for an assessment of my character ... Instead of personal attacks, it would've been KINDER for the poster to just stick with the issue and answer the question on the subject line.
@"Anyone here ever worked @ a Shelter or Animal Rescue?"
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for mean-spirited people to morph threads into something the subject was not intended for.  Personal attacks help no-one.  Anyone who clicks this subject line at a later date because they have the same question, will certainly not find the attacks on my character useful, as it does not pertain to the subject.
There's a difference between constructive criticism and denigrating someone's character.  It's just not helpful.

And, BTW, to whoever posted this ...

"First, RinaRina, I love that you took a comment that hurt your feelings, reflected on it, and saw the truth in it. May we all be so wise and gracious.

You were going through the stages of grief even before your beloved pet died because you saw the writing on the wall and began the denial and bargaining stages. I think grief makes many people a little crazy for a while."

THANK YOU!  That's "constructive criticism", not an assault on my character.

THANK YOU!  Unfortunately, the vet who seemed to be most interested in my dog was the last one I saw.  At that point, it was too late.

Re: Anyone Here ever worked @ a Shelter or Animal Rescue?

RinaRina..

First no one wants to see people lose their pets.  We have all been through it and would never wish that on anyone.

Second your attitude toward shelters, rescues vets etc. is what is holding you back from getting a new pet.  Why would anyone, even from Craigslist, would want to entrust a pet in your care based on what they see.  There are no secret lists or hidden agenda's, it is people making a decision based upon what you put out there.

Third your dog lived a every long life and I am sure a very happy one with you.  While I will agree not all vet are the same, they cannot perform miracles.  Your dog was very old and likely had multiple medical issues.  Prescribing one medication for one condition will often be at the expense of another.  It is always a balancing act, the worst of two evils.  The last vet you saw knew the same thing the other 6 did, perhaps just had a bed side manner that suited you better.

Lastly, you need to take a step back.  You need time to heal and reflect on what has happen before you get another dog.  Once you look at the situation honestly you will see what the rescuse and shelters are seeing.  Only then will you be ready for a new dog.

I am sorry if anything I have said hurt your feeling but this is how I feel from reading your posts.

For the reason highlghted above ---

Eventho' the intent of my reviews is always to help other people (just like beauty reviews or other products .. it's JMHO), I've gone on YELP and removed all the 1-star reviews.  The 5-star review for the last vet remains.

Thanks.

Re: Anyone Here ever worked @ a Shelter or Animal Rescue?

RinaRina, I sense that you've had it pretty rough with the passing of your beloved companion.  From your posts, it sounds like you're in pain and have had a lot of frustration and disappointment to boot.

The death of a pet can take a toll.  Please take time to be kind to yourself.  Give yourself some time and space to heal.  There are grief support groups for those who have lost their pets.  I would look into something like this.  It really helps you move on to a life without your companion and perhaps, IF and WHEN you're ready, welcoming a new furbaby.  And if not, that's okay, too.

My heartfelt thoughts are with you.  Many have suggested a time for healing.  I echo that sentiment.  When one is in pain following a loss, decisions and actions may not be characteristic of one's personality.  We understand and wish you healing.  Sending you hugs and keeping you in my thoughts as you gently let go.
