Awww. We know you'll do the right thing. Sometimes our furbabies find us, rather than the other way around. The ways of the world can indeed be mysterious. Good luck & keep us posted!

@forrestwolf wrote:@queendivaI would, but we have no local vet....or shelter, as we still have a gas chamber, even thou illegal in the state of GA, except for small rural towns with no animal care available, or shelter...
A gas chamber??? Is that how the authorities get rid of unwanted animals? I've never heard of such a thing.

It sounds like you've been through this before, and with wonderful results! This is how we got our cat--five years ago. Apparently he was dropped off (we live in the country also) and we took him in 'temporarily'. Neither my husband nor myself are cat people, but he just 'clicked' with us, and so he stayed.
I can understand how you feel though, about being unsure as to whether you want to take on another dog. I'm in the same boat. We lost our pup of fourteen years some months ago, and although I miss her daily, I just am not sure I'm up to dealing with having another dog at this point of my life.
But it almost sounds as though your decision has already been made for you! You never know when or why some things happen the way they do. Please let us know what happens with your new friend, Wolfgang. He sounds like a wonderful dog.

@ValuSkr Are you for real???? That is how many kill shelters get rid of the unadopted and unwanted animals, or as here, no shelter, and VERY few foster homes.... They simply just put the animals in a building, and turn on the gas and euthanize them, then throw them away in a dumpster....I have to go by it every day from work, and when I see the gasses coming out of the vent, I will start to cry....It is awful, and not a "no feel" way to die..GA did away with it, as it was so cruel, but it is still legal for small towns with no animal control (we have it only in the city, not the county), and no shelters.....

Again, I am working with him, and it has cost me blood and meat, but maybe that is why he is here....Maybe, no one took the time to work with him, and try to train him...I bought out a ball, and he was clueless...If you choose a fur baby, you have to teach them, and show them love, and attention. The only other thing that bothers me, is that if they are hard to train, or submissive, or clingy, then they can so easily become bate dogs, as dog fighting is still rampant where I live. Also, if they will not hunt, then they are of no value. And if they are not a watch dog, they are of no value..I had someone knock on my French Doors last night, and he did not even bark....He has only barked at a stuffed wolf and dog that I have in one of my spare bedrooms.... Right now, a watch dog, he is not.........He follows me, every step that I make, tail always wagging....

Awe, sounds like a sweetheart and maybe a very wonderful gift. By chance, does your town or county have a Facebook page? Or maybe a town/county pet lost and found page on Facebook? You could see if anyone is looking for him. You could also post that you found him, but that's risky because nogoodnicks will lie and say they lost the dog and then go and use them in training fight dogs. You have to be really careful how you go about it. In the meantime, get some dog food.

yes i believe your savannah has sent you a new fur baby.
nine years ago, on the very day that i was scheduled to take my sophie for that one final last trip to the vet, my phone rang. i was not going to answer because i was so upset, but my friend, who was taking us to the vet, said maybe i should answer. it was a lady offering me a beautiful little yorkie baby.(long story about how she knew about me and sophie) just like my sophie. i had thought that it would be YEARS before i could ever entertain the idea of another dog (if ever) because i loved my little sophie so much. but i think sophie knew that. after i hung up the phone, i took sophie's chin in my hand and looked right into her eyes and said 'you have sent me that little baby, havent you?'
now for the funny part. i am quite certain that little sophie is sitting up there at the rainbow bridge laughing herself silly. this little gracie of mine has been my canine challenge. not only is she not at all like sophie, ... she is really more like a CAT than a dog. she has been impossible to train and sometimes i think that maybe i just am not speaking her language LOL.
i don't come over to the pet corner very often, forrestwolf, but i hope to check back in and find out that you and your new furbaby are settling in and enjoying a new life for you both.

He followed me into the potty, and then a piece of ice fell, and he ate it up...I can tell he is still teething, by looking at his teeth...Then out he went, and came running back to me, and tried the up on the chair again, and stern down severl times, and he remembered...No wincing that I would hit him!!!!! He finally remembered, and I know it will still be a reinforcement challange, but I was never one with the water in the face thing....He goes outside to potty, and if I keep him, he will be trained to doggie door and fence....How did you best train your growing pup???? I can not afford too much blood and meat, and he wants to gnaw on my arm, but I will get chewies when I go tomorrow and get food and things...

@forrestwolf, he sounds wonderful! What are you calling him? Keep us updated on how things are going. I'll be interested in hearing how old your Vet thinks he is. The only advice I have on training is to take them outside every hour to potty. Also, when he wants to chew on your arm always have a chew toy ready to give him instead. That's easier said than done I know.
