A recent Houzz article showed this dog in a toddler bed at the foot of the bed.  

A smaller dog might need a ramp, but it seems like a clever idea for a dog of about this size.

I can't use the exact link due to the items for sale on the site.

I tried a few ways to make the picture copyable, but Houzz seems to have preventives in place to make that difficult, if not impossible.

The only dog bed in my house is mine....my little boy wouldn't have it any other way,  The cute doggie beds in my home (one shaped like a little sofa) sit forlorn and empty.

I know exactly what you mean, @phoenixbrd.  Mine were all on the bed, too.

For my first cat, and sized for all small dogs I've since then, I bought an arched top wicker basket on four feet with an arched opening.  It has a handle on top for easy moving from spot to spot.  Not necessarily for nighttime, just for relaxing.

None of the furry friends ever spent any significant amount of time in it, but it's too cute to give away.  

Apparently it's based on an antique pet carrier.  Mine looks somewhat like this only it has no door and it does have four feet.
