@patbz

I just Googled how far I am from the nearest Costco Wholesale...1hr and 7mins.  WHAT???  It must be new.  I've got to let DH know about this!

Everything has gone up, and you will pay more if you go to a practice run by VCA or Blue Pearl.

There are still independent practices around where the doctors spend time with you and treat you fairly.

I am not a fan of the big conglomerates and all of their rules. Neither is DH.

It's that way with medical doctors too. One of my doctors apologized to me that he had to do things a certain way. A hospital in our area went from being one of the best to being outside the top hospitals ratings completely.

I don't think it will change back.

Wait until you get your homeowners' insurance bill!

Mine was way up after the recent disasters (and I don't live in those areas).

I always say I spend more on my dog's medical care than I do my own. It's always a $300++ bill when he has his annual checkup and shots.

Honestly, that's one reason why I hesitate about getting another pooch when this one (the BF's husky) heads to the bridge.

I'm also tired of risking my heart.

Our kennel owner just raised the prices to $40 a day....she's a 70 year old neighbor and I realize she has to turn a profit on business but when we take a 10 day cruise the bill pinches a bit.    The dog is too crazy to have a pet sitter or neighbor care for him.

@monicakm  I feel ur pain. I had a male cat with urinary blockage and was hospitalized at vet for 5 days each time. Total $2100.00. He reblocked one day after 2nd stay and drove to a 24 hour vet 2 hours away. He had to have surgery and it cost $3200.00. I put in on care credit and I am still paying on it. Good news he urinates without difficulty.
I went to emergency vet and considered euthanizing him but I looked at his face and just couldn't do it. Honestly I think I love him more than he loves me🤣

Re: $329 Vet Bill

[ Edited ]

We have WAGMO pet insurance for kitty Winston.  So far, been very happy with it.  We also have him professionally groomed frequently, as he does not cooperate very well when we used to try to keep our Maine Coon groomed.

Our vet discontinued boarding, so for the past few years Winston stays at a kitty hotel when we vacation.  He gets his own room, nicely furnished with a window view.

He is such an affectionate and delightful guy who makes us ole folks very happy.  He was found wandering city streets,

and now lives a life of a spoiled little prince.  We have many bird feeders on our deck, and Winston has a place on the kitchen table to observe the action. No interest in his breakfast, so I serve it to him as he watches the birds.

There's a shortage of vets so I've heard.  However, I do believe it's worth the money we need to spend for our pets' care.

Just went through more than $1,600 for my cat about a week ago.

$329 isnt bad for 2 pups.  I pay that for 1 dog.
