After Labor Day
08-03-2017 08:13 AM
Our rural school district starts the Wed. after Labor Day because our county fair runs through Labor Day weekend, and most of the kids are showing animals at the fair that week.
We are the only district I know of anywhere near here that goes back that late. Most are back in classes August twenty something (it varies).
We still get out most years by the first couple of days in June, because our kids don't get a full spring break. If we exceed snow days, those have to be made up though.

August 8 or 9. I saw the posting in front of the school this morning.
plus this weekend is "tax free" days great time to buy clothing, school supplies, etc.
I plan to hit some stores to buy some fall clothes for GD. 7% tax savings adds up when outfitting kids!

The kids head back August 21st.
There was a Texas mandate about starting dates that had to be worked around (granted an exception, I think)
in order for the students to start back this early.
The teachers head back next Monday, the 14th, for inservices, etc.
Tax-free weekend is this coming weekend, I understand.

@LTT1, In the last two years, we haven't gotten the big snow being so close to the Tenn. mountains for which they always planned. We're about "due" for a snow this year!

I hope you get snow!
The whole country is due for a winter, right?
Our weather has seriously been lacking in temperature change for maybe two years.

My niece and nephew went back on Monday. Very early but they get out the week before Memorial Day.

@LTT1LOL! I'm sure the students hope for snow, however, the side of our driveway is a 15 ft drop and two years ago, my 4 runner got stuck sideway at the driveway entrance on 4 inches of pure ice.
