I never allowed it. I just never felt comfortable. Thankfully my son never made an issue out of it. My mom didn’t allow it either when we were growing up.

The best age for the first sleepover depends on the maturity & disposition of the child. I've seen children as young as your DG do just fine, yet I've also seen 8 year olds lose it and have to be picked up by their parents. One time a child who was a regular sleepover guest had a melt down and went home. It's ok, not earth shattering, some children just need a reassuring hug from mom or dad & nobody else will do for whatever reason.
