Re: My son nearly broke his ankle

I had broken ankle 6 years ago, then severe sprain in same left foot just last May. The sever sprain was much, much worse.
Hope your son gets better each day.

Re: My son nearly broke his ankle

Hi CaryH

I've been following your thread the past few days. I hope your son is doing better, but I have to agree with another poster and say that I would take him to an orthopedic specialist.  It may not be broken, but there could still be some other damage... Iigament, stress facture, etc. that is underlying.

My son (now 27) played many sports in HS and sustained numerous injuires.  We never felt "comfortable" unless seeing an orthopedic, even if we went to a walk-in or saw our PCP prior.

Also, my newphew sustained an ankle injury in gym class in HS, and he went to a walk in and was misdiagosed. They told him it was a sprain, and after a few days when he got worse, found out it was a stress fracture.

Please don't let anyone have you feel you are being over-protective.  Regardless of age, as "Mother's" we will always worry about the health and well being of our children.  It's  "natural"....

Best of luck to you and your son.  Check in and let us know how he is doing.

Sending love and prayers...
