It sounds pretty normal to me. Kids have been "liking each other" and talking on the phone forever! Of course, as with any other young teen friendship, you need to set guidelines and keep tabs on things. No "dating" or being alone together at this age, for sure. And keep an eye on social media. You need to be sure you and/or her parents are "friends" on Facebook so you can monitor exchanges there.
