I am also a baby boomer and have loved this poem since I learned it, perhaps in 7th grade. I agree with the poster who thought it was about simply appreciating the beauty of a snowy evening. In addition, I always thought of the words "And miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep." the night before a term paper was due and I was frantically working to finish it!
