question for LDO ladies with grey hair- does caramel work?

[ Edited ]

4 months with no salon visits to get rid of white roots against my brown hair made me accept it was no longer random grey I was covering so last month I went full in. My stylist first bleached the 2/3 of my head hair that was brown, then dyed everything the lighted paltimum/silver, then added darker lowlights. 6 hours later my monthly fight to stay ahead of roots was done and I am surprised how much I love it.

I do recognize that the beige and off white in my closet now wash me out. As does camel. Even with adjusting blush. I have pale, cool complexion and blue eyes.

I am hoping since the caramel WK is deeper than camel that it might work. Would appreciate input from anyone that has his last year's caramel pieces.

I have already purchased the plum and grey, just keep looking back at the caramel..., Rose

@qvcrose Hi.  I work with color and style ladies from 5 states.

I would suggest in your closet you embrace the blues, incl. navys, violets, blue based green, turquoise, light peach, winter white, light to medium browns, and grays.

True camel is a color we grew up hearing it was the most versatile neutral, yet it frequently washed out complections and turned ladies dark under the eyes and around the mouth.

Oh my, @ECBG .  I have white hair on top and on the sides.  the back still has some brown mixed with white.  I have blue/green eyes and wear tan in make up.

I never (nor have I ever) worn navy blue or blue for that matter.  I don't wear turquoise, brown, light peach, and rarely gray, never white.   I tend to be drawn to fall colors.....olive green, orange, red/orange, black, mustard yellow, to name a few.

I guess I am a "don't" for what to wear.  Oh well.  I don't intend to change my color scheme now. Woman Wink

@qvcrose Good for you for embracing your white hair.  You won't believe how liberating it is.  Woman Very Happy

Re: question for LDO ladies with grey hair- does caramel work?

I know that ECBG is giving you the best advice, as a professional stylist and colorist.  My hair is slowly changing from light brown to grey. I have blue eyes, and my face has taken on a bit of tan, since moving to AZ.  I don't think that the caramel looks the best on me.  However, i have embraced it near my face, with the blazer from last year, and now the new TN tank.  I adjust the make up with coral lipstick and blush.  Gold jewelry gives me some shine and sparkle.  I am getting the caramel Fez necklace.  I guess I am just goiing with outfits that I like, and hope that it does not look too out of place with my general coloring.  Beyond that, I do love my jewel tones, grey, and all the colors that  ECBG mentioned.  Thank you for bringing up the topic. I think it is one that many ladies can relate to.

I suggest looking into Dressing Your Truth to know what colors would work best for you (clothes, makeup, hair tone).

I also have a pale, cool complexion, and blue eyes.  Any color of brown, camel, caramel, ivory, off white, sage or olive green, generally Fall colors, make my skin look very sallow and much older.  I can wear a grayish taupe.

I had natural dark brown hair, now natural silver gray, and I always looked best in jewel colors, black, gray, and white.  Black is my best color.

@qvcrose It would seem (and I know it is for myself as well) that quite a few of us have lightened more around the face and are darker in the back.

@Foxxee The fall colors turn you sallow, don't they?

I hear ya! I have "pandemic hair" that shifted from blonde to salt & pepper. I'm excited about the new silvery hair color -- and bought Louis' silver Anniversary Earrings. We all look good when we repeat our hair color in our clothes -- and now you have a new hair color to play with. I think it is old habit calling you to Caramel, but once you see yourself in the Plum and Grey you will probably be very happy. I know I keep looking at the champagne colors that looked great with blonde hair and now are just meh for me -- so I resist.
