I have a pair of suit pants on Back Order. What is the difference between Back Order and Waitlist?

I might be wrong but I think of backordered as they are waiting for more from the manufacturer and waitlist as a return.

Your chances are very good at getting the item, if on backorder. Waitlist is further down the supply chain.

Backorder- the assumption the vendor will supply QVC will additional items (doesn't always happen).
Waitlist- an item sent to you because one was returned OR the item was never claimed (no check was received, CC didn't go through) and you're the next on the "List" to get the item if one becomes available. It can also be that the vendor IS bringing more in but there is no set date as to when (this has happened to me with JAI quit a few times) it may be..

That's what I thought, too, but with this fiasco with the new Blazer/Suit, Corporate told me that anyone whose order was In Backorder was NOT going to get their order. I'm really doubting the certainty of ANY QVC ordering process at this point. It's all a cr@pshoot!

Sheesh, wasn't the problem compounded by the fact that these garments were housed at a Carolina facility during the hurricane?

One of the back orders just shipped. My caramel leather/knit jacket was also on back order initially and it also just shipped. This was the first time I ever had "back ordered" appear next to one of my orders. Thanks for the information.

*******
Marilyn, we got so much mis-information on the status that I am not sure what is the truth. I know a number of people who called Corporate, including me, and different stories were told. Customer Service also told varying stories. So we are never really going to know what happened. We heard warehouse flooding from the hurricane, lost in moving to different warehouse (not related to storm), damaged in shipping from overseas---the list goes on.....

Backorder means that the item was in stock when you ordered it, but was not available when it was time to ship. This should not happen and theoretically these orders are filled first, asap.
Waitlist means that the item is not in stock but that QVC anticipates having more stock in the future, through cancellations, returns, etc. These are filled theoretically in order of when the waitlist orders are placed.
I say theoretically because for some reason the orders for the new suit (blazer and pants) were not filled in any discernable sequence and as well orders went to backorder when the system was still showing stock available. I have been ordering for many years and in the past "backorder" happened very infrequently. Previously the only backorder item that I did not receive was the rootbeer necklace.
