Sheesh,

Thank you for getting a kick out of the "DNA markers" remark.

I decided to ask Louis if he could reproduce this for us.  One look at that necklace and I was deeply in love.

I’d buy it too as long as he kept it the same 19” length.

Yes, JJM, I do not want it bigger or mightier or longer than it is.

Re: The Grandmother of Byzantine Jewelry?

Louis responded!  He remembers this necklace fondly.  I could love this necklace modified to have half as many strands, how about you?  Most necklaces are not this complex anyway.

Dear Goldie I remember this necklace very well, and you are all very astute……it was part of my Byzantine collection about 1989-90. Each of the color stations were double sided. This was an extremely labor intensive piece to make, and it was made in R.I. USA!. I think it retailed for about $200. If I even attempted to make it today it could never be 20 strands, maybe not even 10. I’d have to speak to my jewelry company and see if they think it’s even a possibility. I can tell you it IMHO is well worth the money for what it is. I know some women don’t understand spending that much money on Fashion jewelry, but it was made like real. If this was a vintage Chanel piece it would probably be about $1500.

A long version would be great too. I love how the gem stations are integrated into the chain.

A long version that could be wrapped to look like many strands?

Re: The Grandmother of Byzantine Jewelry?

Maybe 72 inches?  Could be wrapped 4 or 5 times.
