Name, you still need good writing skills especially if you’re submitting research work to various scientific magazines. Or if you are an editor checking for errors in syntax or meaning to submit for a major health magazine. 

Commas & semi colons are not going anywhere the way of the dinosaur in writing yet. 

Not checking what you have written before clicking send, is just laziness not ineptness.

It does concern me and I have taught English to ESL physicians and have reacently taught at my church (community immigrants).  I can say, the books I am given from which to teach and the instruction therewith, are not comforting.
