any suggestions as to a really good vegetable peeler ? It seems like after awhile they all slip and slide off, I guess they dull. I would gladly pay a little extra for one that keeps working. Anyone have a 'cutco' brand?

Hi Okaywitheasypay, yes I have a Cutco peeler and it is excellent, just like all of the Cutco products. I have a knife set, ice cream scoop, pizza cutter, husband has a fishing knife, etc... their products are the BEST and worth every penny. Their customer service is great too!

A little hint if you decide on Cutco: over the years, I somehow lost 3 of the table knives that came with my knife set. For Christmas this year, DH got me a set of the table knives and the Cutco salesgirl threw in the peeler for free as an incentive. Sometimes they do that, worth looking into if there are other Cutco products you need.

I have a KitchenAid one that I really like. First used it at my SIL's house, then had to get one for me and one for my dad! I didn't even know KitchenAid made hand tools.

Mine is from Pampered Chef. I've had it at least 10 years and it's still my favorite. It even peels eggplant with no problem.

Mine doesn't look exactly like this one. Maybe they've changed it, but it's similar and I recommend it.

I agree. Mine is probably 15 yrs old and is still sharp and not rusty.

I've got a couple really old ones. One is actually rusty, but they are still sharp. I'm going to try some steel wool on the rusty one or throw it out if that doesn't work.

I don't do that much peeling, but I have a couple of OXO brand peelers that work just fine. One is just the straight one and the other one is the wide one (you know what I mean?). I also like that they come with little plastic covers over the blades. I'm an accident waiting to happen, so not having covers for my peelers or Microplanes could be problematic for me.

Oxo Good Grips--the straight one! Great and lasts a long long time!

Add me, too! I got my first one over 20 yrs. ago - can't believe it's been that long. I later picked up a couple more so I'd always be sure to have one, or could put someone else to work with me, but the latter doesn't seem to happen...LOL

I have a cuisinart one and it works well although I cant speak to the durability. I have had it for a couple of years and I do peel but not every week. But I like it a lot.
