Please mention in presentation start out in a cold oven. From the problems with cracking a lot of people may not know to do that. Retuning products is expensive. Love temptations would like to see the old insulated carriers return sooo cute.

Re: temperature for temptations

How come Fiesta bakeware doesn't need to start in a cold oven?

I have never seen recipes that say to start food in a cold oven.

Recipes always say to place in a pre-heated over....at least all the cake recipes I have ever used have said to pre-heat.

I think it's cute, but cheaply made.

I use my Temptations the way I do.other bakeware, and I don't have problems.

Re: temperature for temptations

I had one piece crack and craze and never even used it - it was sitting in my cabinet for almost 2 years before I got it out and found the cracks.

I lost a whole 9x13 pan of lasagna when the pan cracked and broke in half coming out of the oven.

Now I just use the pieces I have left for cold salads.

Re: temperature for temptations

I have NEVER put my Temp-tations in a "cold" oven before..never had a reason to do so? I pre-heat my oven when using Temp-tations (which is almost always when baking) usually at 350-400 degrees and when oven is ready, put dish in, no "special" requirements needed. I do usually spray my bake ware even tho it is promoted as "non stick". Sorry you have had a different experience

You can't bake or cook in a cold oven.

Re: temperature for temptations

If your bakeware has been refrigerated or frozen, then I could see letting it sit out a bit before putting it in a preheated oven. But it it hasn't, I don't see a problem.

Here's the actual answer about the temperature difference from TT's FAQs:

Is it safe to go from the freezer directly to the oven with temp-tations®?

Yes, all temp-tations® bakers can go from the freezer directly to the oven. However, when doing so, allow your temp-tations® baker and your oven to heat up together. (Put the stoneware in an unheated oven, turn on the oven, and allow both to come to desired cooking temperature simultaneously.)

I just found this info on Rachel Ray's site. This is what I do with my non-TT stoneware:

This stoneware is oven safe to 500°F. (Some pieces may have silicone on the lid handle which is only oven safe to 350°F) Quick changes in extreme temperature could cause thermal shock causing your stoneware to crack. If moving stoneware from refrigerator or freezer directly into hot oven, the temperature should not be set higher than 350°F. or the stoneware may crack. Always make sure stoneware has warmed or cooled to room temperature before placing in the stove, freezer, refrigerator or under cold water in the sink.

Re: temperature for temptations

I think it would be ok to let the dish warm up with the oven if it's just a cassarole but I am betting it would ruin baked goods like cakes.
