slow cooking in Instant Pot

[ Edited ]

I finally did this--been meaning to for awhile. I think I tried it once and it wasn't great. Meat was tough and just bad!!! But I had a piece of mystery meat in my freezer----it was beef but I didn't put on the packaging WHAT cut it was--there was about 3/4 of a pound and in good condition so I was not going to toss it--So I thawed it and seasoned it and seared it in my PC then poured onion soup mix/water over top and cooked it for 4 hours or so--turns out is was a top or bottom round steak and boy, was it amazing!! Made gravy, had mashed spuds, a fresh fruit salad and fresh corn for dinner!!

Now what I did different was, put a tight fitting glass lid on it while it cooked instead of the regular p/c  top --that was my issue the first time--that lid did not keep the moisture inside---I used my 3qt PC too. Also cooked my corn in it too----Such a good dinner!!!

Is PC pressure cooker?  Thought Instant Pot was slow cooker but maybe it's dual like the Ninja Foodi.

All you need is a 5qt Dutch oven.    You can cook almost anything in it.  No "fancy" appliances needed...

@rockygems123 @wagirl @Desertdi

I bought the instant pot which is heavy as a deceased body and kept my crock pot. I use my crock pot more frequently because of its lightweight but I use the instant pot for roasts, dried beans, etc., which require time to cook them to tender otherwise. That instant pot makes them tender in a jiffy.

@rockygems123---yes, PC is pressure cooker and mine is the instant pot brand. It has many different functions,  and the slow cooker is just one of them.

@Nonametoday --I have a crock pot too and use it all the time. I don't think the IP  is that heavy----but it is solid.

Mine is the big one and I have issues with my hands since I got the Covid shot.  I have had to have surgery on both but they are not much better.  So glad to hear you still use your crock pot as well.

@dimin ----I thought I would have to buy one too, but I already had one that fits just fine. Am always jumping into buying stuff before I actually look to see if I really need to. Bad habit!!

I do that too and then my husband would take inventory and remind me....
