Thank you for your replies! I think I will take my 9 cup Cuisinart food processor out of hibernation, if I can find it, and try that first.  I will probably end up getting one of the counter ones that were suggested. I love kitchen gadgetsHeart

We love Tillamook cheddar and buy the black blocks from Costco.  I've never seen the grated version, but I'll be on the look-out.  I also am sick of using a hand grater, and by the time I get the food processor assembled with the proper blade, dinner hour will be over.  Maybe I should just keep it set up that way.  (Light bulb moment)
