I now am baking only when I know it's a bday or someone asks me for special occasion.
I just donated to food pantry my "overstock" of flour, sugar, etc. I know someone can use it vs. sitting in my extra pantry.

King Arthur had a couple of real expensive mixers too.
I'd love to use them since I'm a gadget freak. Only folks who can afford those 900.00 plus mixers are commercial bakeries, etc.

Homedecor1, donating to your local food pantry was thoughtful of you to do. It's something we probably ALL ought to be doing - either donating food or money to our local food pantries. With COVID, many families are struggling and do not have enough to eat - a crime in my opinion. NO ONE in this country, one of the richest on earth, should ever go hungry.

Just a note about some of the "off brand" Chinese made products. In many cases the unknown to us name products are made in the same factory, using the same molds and parts as the "name" brand items. The Aucma, Frifer, Kuppet, Dash, Sanlida, Cusimax, Howork, Kuccu, Vospeed, etc. mixers are all clearly based on the older Cuisinart stand mixers. There are some outward cosmetic differences, but otherwise they're the same.
What happens is a company like Cuisinart will contract with a Chinese manufacturer for a certain number of units. The Chinese maker will make those units and supply them to Cuisinart, but rather than shut down production, they may continue to make them and just slap on a different skin and name. They may add an analog speed control instead of a digital one. They'll then sell the knock-off items at a deep discount. The "name brand" company will have paid for the molds, tooling, design, etc. and the Chinese manufacturer will simply have to cover the actual cost of assembling the product.
Are they as good as the name brand item? Sometimes. You don't know for sure though. China's not overly interested in shutting down this practice, as it creates lots of revenue and jobs. It can be good for the consumer, but brutal for the name brand company. You're suddenly competing with your own design that's being sold at half your price.

Don't buy that Hamilton Beach hand mixer with the silicone beaters.
I bought one from HSN, wire beaters doesn't come with it and at Hamilton Beach dot com they're sold out. I threw it out and lost almost 70 on it
went to walmart and bought a cuisinart for 40.
