@sharke - question about mixer(s)

@SharkE

I know you do research on alot of appliances and believe in SMEG products.

I'm asking as my gf is a awesome baker and the KA she bought last year from QVC is a "POS"!! Leaking oil, screw fell out of back holding device for head, and a the humming sound is driving her crazy!!  AFTER 3 hours of waiting to speak to CS for KA they told her no warranty on it.

She asked me about buying a brand I believe named "Amuca"that is highly rated on Amazon although I don't know the brand,  but I then remembered you posting about SMEG products.

She bakes almost everyday for the seniors of the community and needs a mixer which can handle heavy doughs, and more!

Can you give me some info on SMEG vs. what I've (we've) seen online?

Thank you!

@homedecor1  Here’s a pic of the mixer your GF wants. Top rated for mixing multiple types of dough.C31BB1CA-0539-47AB-87A2-BFA63ABF10CA.jpeg

Wow. I'm shocked to greet that. Kitchen aid in my experience has gone above and beyond to help. Maybe they have changed.

Re: @sharke - question about mixer(s)

@homedecor1 : My history with KA- when first married DH purchased basic lowest watt KA mixer but purchased extended warranty. It really vibrated and the silver band around the mixer would pop off and scare me while mixing plus had a smoking smell to it. Had to argue with warranty people but they sent an upgrade model the Artisian mixer but it was a refurbished model. It was very loud, wobbled and really leaked oil. Plus the screw assembly that held the beaters fell off. Really shocked when DH went to Sam's and purchased the Kitchenaid Lift model for my Christmas present this year. So far it works with no loud noise, no vibration and no leaking oil. But this model sold at Sam's and Costco- the flex head beater is not available. Time will tell but KA are not made sturdy like the ones initially made.

Re: @sharke - question about mixer(s)

@homedecor1    I just like the old time simplicity of the SMEG. Let me find a video that does a non bias review, make up your own minds, you and your friend and I will post it.

I wouldn't pay 6-1,000 for a mixer. I was lucky to get mine for 444 Total

I'll post where you can watch this video , not the link or it will get poofed, but, I'll get it to you.

@SharkE

thank you i just spoke to her.

This is what she was considering:

Aucma 660 watts. $150

seems to cheap for a good heavy duty mixer but what do I know🤷‍♀️

thanks for your time &research she can look at the ones you recommended.

Personally, I still like my KA Pro-600 lift style which is 20+ years old🙂

@SouthernBee

That was my recommendation to.  I always loved my lift style and never had a issue.

I know she is frustrated but KA isn't the brand it used to be.  Parts all come from China or other places -- plus, 325w is not ideal for "heavy" doughs, etc.

Re: @sharke - question about mixer(s)

Hope it works for her. Sometimes a cheaper product will do as good and last as long as the ones that are a fortune.

I"m not familiar with that brand, but, I didn't know SMEG existed till my sister wanted their retro refrigerator.

Because of covid my bread and roll making has been on lay off LOL

No, church dinners this past yr. and my friends who took home treats every Sunday haven't been coming, so, it's just me and SMEGGY for right now

LOL

Re: @sharke - question about mixer(s)

@homedecor1 : I am impressed with this last model and don't do as much baking so hopefully this one will last. Before this last gift- I purchased a Cuisinart stand mixer and loved it. But the beater placement was too high. The screw to adjust the beaters was manufactured installed below the plate and impossible to adjust. Cuisinart gave me the run around. Thankfully the mixer was purchased at Home Depot and when returned told them and showed the customer service lady the defect and she and supervisor approved my refund.
