@SilleeMee I knew a guy with a Vietnamese wife and their rule of "thumb" was to put the rice in and add water up to the first joint of your little finger!  It actually works every time for me--and the way I like my rice!  

 

Not sure about brown rice, since I usually measure this in the rice cooker. 

 

Another friend says wash rice three time for the trinity!

That works! It's about the same measurement of one inch...for a normal size finger anyway.Smiley Happy
