Re: question about kitchen knives

what a cute story Kachina, thanks for sharing. I like hearing stories of experiences people have had with their family. Yeah, I think will pass on the ' celebrity " type knives, they all seem to have them.   It will be interesting to see if I find "case" knives, had not heard of them before. Best wishes.

I could not help but notice both hsn and evine had kitchen knives yesterday as tsv. Wolfgang puck and Todd English. I know Rachel Ray has hers on the q. and cutis stone has a line of them somewhere.  Anybdoy own any of these knives, are they sharp ? quality ?

I have mainlypurchased  zwelling in the past. I bought some sharper image knives at a discount store, just so so.

I am tempted by the Todd English TTV.  Still thinking about it

Re: question about kitchen knives

If you give some one a knife they must give you a penny. Daddy was the MOST superstitious person and I learned a lot from him. I am not that way but it is fun to remember and reflect.

Re: question about kitchen knives

I used to fall for all the advertisements for the "best" knives. I invested a lot of money for those "best" knives. Not any more since I discovered Cutco knives. They literally are the very last ones I'll ever buy! Expensive but worth every penny if you divide it daily for the next 30-40 years. Pennies a day.

Re: question about kitchen knives

I have had a set of LamsonSharp knives for years.  I bought them because they're made in the USA (Shelburne Falls, MA).  They are high quality and wonderful utensils.

Re: question about kitchen knives

The best knives need sharpening occasionally.  Invest in a husband with a whetstone and the ability and patience to use it.  Or buy a sharpener of some sort if you get tired of waiting until he gets in the mood. Its a big production around here, the moon has to be in the right phase or something.

Re: question about kitchen knives

invest in excellent knives and just the ones you need and will use usually not a set. Henckles and Wusthoff are excellent except for the gourmet line and sturdy.  Get a good electric sharpener and learn to use it

good knives make life so much easier if you learn to use and care for them
