If Laura is gone, they are going to have to find someone else to take her place - not that anyone can adequately replace her. The woman they have now is worthless as a representative for KitchenAid. Little personality and no spark about the merchandise.
Laura was the consumate representative for her brand and I don't see how anyone is going to come close to replacing her. Only one thing she did that bothered me - she used the name David in almost every sentence. WAY too much! But other vendors seem to do that also. I wonder if they are prompted to do so.
I'm not a fan of the high pressure, silly sales tactics of the host of the kitchen shows, so the only times I watch are when either Laura or Emeril is presenting. Then I make a special effort to see their portion. Loved seeing Emeril yesterday.

I understand that long-time viewers want to know why Laura simply vanished. I agree that QVC wants it both ways, saying she is a "family member" and then POOF, she's gone with no explanation.
However, I don't understand the negative comments about the new representative. I think she's lovely and knowledgeable and quite comfortable on camera for a newbie. I actually think she sounds a lot like Laura.
I wish her a long career at QVC.

Oh no! And with no "proper" send off!
Perhaps she wanted it that way.
I hope all is good in her life and that she is well.
So sad to see her go.

People sure are intent on making things their business.
Yes, we all know it is a shopping channel, and these people aren't truly our family or friends, but it feels that way for many people, when you watch and enjoy a host or a vendor for decades at a time.
Some of us do care that they are well and all right. Some of us actually miss them when they leave. They share a little part of our day when we watch them and it is not at all out of line to wonder or ask where a host or vendor is, when they come up 'missing' with little or no warning or explanation.
Every inquiry about a host or vendor isn't simply gossipy or nosey.

No one is going to tell us what happened. She may have retired. She may have had issues. QVC may have wanted to go in another direction. KitchenAid may have wanted to go in another direction. Regard;ess. it is none of our business.
Many people seem to think that the people on QVC are friends and family. They are not. They are simply sales people. Just as most of us would not lose sleep over staffing changes at Wal-Mart, we should not get upset when QVC changes vendors or hosts.
While I do wish Laura well, and I hope for the best. The lack of her presence has no effect on my life.
That's nice for you, but it isn't everyone's take on the issue, as is evident by people inquiring about her. Not everyone is being gossipy. Those who think it inappropriate can just leave it alone and let those who wish to have some kind of statement from Q seek that out.

I think many 'experts' here forget what it is like to be 'new' at a job. It takes time to be really good at it. I've seen a number of vendors over the years, and hosts as well, that were less than stellar in the beginning, but have grown to be more than competent, and quite enjoyable.
They need to give the girl a chance.

Thank you for acknowledging my response as to what happened to Laura. I posted twice, looks like you are the only one to read it. And I agree, no send off or mention marks me sad.

Personnel matters are always private. I'm sure other employees were told to say she retired and maybe she did, either voluntarily or not. You're free to question it but it is in the end not our business.

Give the new Kitchen Aid rep a chance. She's green at this job and probably needs to get her nerves under control and develop her own style. Her demonstration and selling tactics are probably a lot different than what we have been used to all these years with Laura. Personally, I have not seen the new Kitchen Aid sales rep yet. I can understand why Laura retired. I'm guessing, but, I'll bet that she had reached retirement age. I think that she is entitled to retire if that is what she wants. I wish her well. Now, as for QVC hosts, product reps and vendors: they are not our family or friends. I don't believe that for one minute. Their sole purpose in being there is to sell, sell, sell, and they will try almost anything to get those products out of the warehouses and onto your doorstep. I'm sure that they are coached very well in how to do so. They are probably required to write a chatty blog every few weeks, for the 'friendly, personal touch', and adding in QVC products and item numbers while they're at it. It's all aimed to make money and not at being your 'friend'. I understand that for many of us, we have watched hosts begin their new job, marry, have children, grow older, etc. and it seems as if we know them quite well, but in reality we don't. I am just fine with that.

I agree that something should have been mentioned, even if it's just a blog post.
Heck, they let Bob Bowersox tape a video goodbye (a video someone at the time referred to as a hostage video and tickles me every time I think about it.)
