@haddon9, I know Costco baked goods are popular. I read good things about their chocolate layer cake. In fact, I think it was gone last year and they just brought back a new version.
I know Costco online has their gourmet category and in the past they're had two different cakes from David's Cookies. I've had David's Cookies cakes and cheesecakes in the past and enjoyed them.

Walmart, Costco and other such stores are not what I consider high end bakeries!! For special occasions I want excellent real pastry chef's baked desserts!!

I actually love so many things from Costco and we shop there once a week. However, the only food items I have bought there that we did not like were the Pumpkin pie and the sheet cake. I can't comment on pecan pie because it's not something we eat.
The baked goods I like from Costco are the madeleines, the tiramisu, some of the cheesecakes and most of the loaf cakes and cookies.

@We rescue cats wrote:I bought the pair of pies for the past couple of years, they were DH's favorites, peach and blueberry and since we were traveling in the camper on the Thanksgiving holiday I could easily include themm when we stopped for our dinner that night. I baked one at night and then reheated it for dessert. They are really good and loaded with fruit! I hate to bake and pie crust is way beyond my ability-I've tried for many years!
😸 Same here. I can make any cheesecake, regular cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc from scratch but not pie. I cannot roll out dough no matter how much I try. I have my mom's rolling pin that was used to make hundreds of pies through the years, but not for me. It's a family joke at this point.

@We rescue cats wrote:@shy bobcat Have you ever tried the Cracker Barrel Chocolate Pecan Pie? It is a favorite of my husband's!!!
I have not had that chocolate pecan pie but, it sounds delicious! I may have to try it the next time I'm at Cracker Barrel. Thank you for the recommendation.

DH bought an homemade apple pie at the Barn store for $15. He ate the whole thing.
I'm not really a pie or cake person. I rather eat a cookie or some chocolate.
Having new bathroom installed next week. The installer wants an apple pie. I'm not making him one since he moved our install date up a week?

I was at a store the other day and they had half pies for $10. I thought that was a lot! I was thinking maybe $10 for a whole pie. Sheesh, I remember buying a pie for like $5.00!!! I know --- that was then and this is now. Everything is sky high! Needless to say, I did NOT buy the half pie!!!

Your post really made me laugh, and I wouldn't have baked him a pie either.
