What is also a bit strange is that the makers of Nutribullet knew of the problem with the blades before they brought it to market. They include a spare blade with the unit which means they expect it to fail at some point. No one else I know of has an extra blade in these type devices. The article should have mentioned that too. If the original blade was built well, why would you need a spare blade over the limited lifespan of these things?

I love my bullet 900! I got it a few months ago. It was $179 in the stores and then someone posted on a forum that Kohl's had made an error on their website. They meant to sell the old model for $99 and instead put the 900 model for $99. I tried to order online and it was "out of stock". I printed the page though with the price and picture. I went to my Kohl's that evening and got the 900...went to the checkout and the girl said "your total is $179 plus tax for a total of $..."...I said no, it's on sale for $99. She disagreed so I showed her the printout and she called over the manager. He looked at my printout and told the girl to sell it to me for $99. I went to work the next day, told a co-worker who took my printout, went to Kohl's store and got one too.
They quickly removed the promo from their website. Wonder how many of us got the great price!
I love mine! Even hubby who thinks we have too many gadgets loves it too and makes veggie/fruit smoothies himself! No chunks ever...not even when blending ice!

I'd suggest reading the entire article before making a judgment call. There is more to the story.
What's odd in the article is that the attorney for Nutribullet is claiming it's the exact same blade as was used before in the 600 model, and in the photo showing their advertising it says it's a brand new blade. The gasket also breaks and comes off according to reviews on Amazon and in the youtube review comparing it to the Nutri Ninja. Many complain the unit leaks, even when the fill line isn't breached. I don't see the article getting any better reading to the end.
It will be interesting to see if the Nutribullet company can bring any legal action against CR as they are an independent testing facility with no bias. Their lawyer already seems to be involved!
Guess I'll know more shortly as mine was delivered today so I'll be testing it out over the weekend. I never planned on drinking directly from their container, but I will be checking the blades before I drink anything, just in case. I really want this thing to work well for me.

It doesn't seem to be on the HSN site any longer.

Mary, in the meantime you can see lots of reviews of it on Amazon, and also look on youtube. I don't see a product page for it any longer on HSN to be able to post reviews. What they should do is send out new blades to all their customers. It might take time to develop and manufacture a new one though. I don't understand with what Consumer Reports is saying why everyone is still taking shipment of these, when they are telling people who have them not to use them. It seems people are ignoring the report. There might be tiny metal pieces from the blade in the smoothies you might not see, and ingest.

Hi Blondelle,
I sent HSN an email about the Consumer Reports safety reviews - hopefully there will be a response. I may have to refuse the shipment.

If I didn't have my Vitamix and wanted one of these I would go with the Nutri Ninja. Has slightly better reviews, makes a smoother smoothie, and costs about the same as the TSV after the 20% off at BB&B and free online shipping too. It's also a better blade. See my other post for a link to the comparison. I have no interest in this other than to not want to see anyone hurt. The Ninja CS is also much better!

I am a total Ninja fan! I have kitchen prep center & 3 in 1 cooker.
