@EatWell-----you are very lucky to be able to come here and get the best seafood ever !!! Alot of what I buy comes from Alaska especially the Copper River salmon in May!! Nectar of the gods !!! Very pricey but so very good. And the PP market is so much fun! Now with all the reno work, it is and will be even better !! Don't go often, as the traffic is horrendous with all the construction.

No one is kidding you. No one is forcing you to buy the product, either. Don't like the price? Vote with your feet.

@fthunt Philly is only a little more than an hour from the shore. My kids live in Philly and can easily get fresh seafood.

@haddon9 I was just going to post that about Philly.

@Witchy Woman wrote:I've not seen these presented, but would not buy seafood from QVC. However, my sis told me she ordered some frozen Seabass recently while watching the Q.
Of course, it's everyone choice, but, for my money, I'll buy local, fresh Rockfish in Maryland. It beats almost anything I can buy frozen elsewhere. It runs around $14 a pound when the store has it.
Cannot imagine why shrimp would cost so much.
@Witchy Woman You can't? Do you think fresh shrimp are easy to come by in Oklahoma? I count on paying $14 to $19 a pound for really good frozen USA caught and processed shrimp.
It is good but expensive and I will not buy Asian processed seafood. Of any kind. And I avoid seafood in non-coastal areas because of that.
And so what if someone pays a lot for shrimp? Their choice, their treat, their money and they may have so much it doesn't matter to them. Or it may be a birthday treat or a once-in-a lifetime purchase. Who knows and who cares how others spend their income?

I don't understand this comment. I live in Philly and seafood is readily available.

I think you misunderstood my post.
I agree with you that everyone can spend as they please. As I said, my sis bought from QVC and does so frequently. She enjoys it, so I cannot fault her. She works hard every day, and it's her treat to her.
I'm not bashing anyone for spending as they see fit.
I also buy shrimp in my area, and it never comes near $30 a pound, even fresh US caught and quite large. Normally, it's been frozen even though we are near the water. It doesn't come from anywhere near the Chesapeake Bay, so, it arrives to our stores frozen.
That is why I puzzled over QVC's cost.
Sorry you needed to tongue lash me. I didn't mean it as you thought.

@Witchy Woman I am defending myself by saying that is nowhere near a tongue lashing and was certainly not posted as one. It is questioning what is odd about paying $30 a pound for shrimp? Look what steaks ordered costs, cakes, etc. I don't see this as anything out of line with what ordered food costs. Sorry for goodness sakes if I offended you.

@jlkz Years ago, in my flaming youth, I dated an Italian guy from a big family. I was lucky enough to be invited for the Feast of the Seven Fishes because his mother liked me. What I understood is that it was a way to have a big, loooong holiday dinner while abstaining from meat the night before the Nativity and honoring the miracle of the loaves and fishes. There were seven seafood dishes served and the dinner went on until time to go to midnight Mass. It was a wonderful tradition and so much fun!
I'm flattered that you remembered some of my posts. Most kind of you to say so, Jlkz!
